Point of Sale Demo
The following instructions will help you to install the CSTA
Financials food distribution software
Point of Sale in your local computer. Please follow the links below to see
detailed instructions of the tasks involved:
1- Install the MSDE 2000
database
2- Install the Point of Sale Application.
Or for a fast lane installation skip to step 3.
3- Run the setup.exe file in the POS installation folder, and
follow the instructions. When the installation is complete, double click the
CSTA Financials food distribution software POS icon in your desktop
a) In the initial Login form, click on the "Setup" tab and
press the "Modify" button, a screen similar
to the one below will display. The IP/URL Address and Server name will be
already filled in the demo version, with the demo server current IP address and
the current XML Web Services name. If you have any problems send us an e-mail
and we will reply with the current information
b) The "Server User Name" is "sa" and the Password is
blank, the Database Name is already filled in the demo version.
c) The User is "administrator" and the password is
"admin."
d) Click Go and you will be connected and authenticated
in the demo server, this will allow you to complete all the fields in the setup
tab, that will be used later when you login in the POS system to create the
local MSDE SQL Server database in your POS workstation. This database allows you
to work offline when the main system is not available. The Setup tab screen will
be displayed again, continue with next step.

e) You will see a screen similar to the one below. Change the first part of the "Local Server" name to the name of your computer "Your Computer Name"\csta_db, csta_db is the MSDE instance name that by default was created when you installed MSDE in the first step. If for any reason you changed the default instance name in the setup.ini of the MSDE installation folder, you should use the new name that you assigned.
f) Enter the Local User ID as "sa" Local Password as "admin" the Local Database as "CSTA_POS".
g) CSTA Financials food distribution software POS assigns a POS Id to each POS workstation. The workstation will not operate without an Id. In the demo version you are connected to our demo server, which simulates what could be your own server, then when you click in the "Get Locations" bottom, the Default Location pull menu will be populated with demo locations we have in our server. Click the arrow in the Default Location and select a location, then click the Get POS Ids bottom which will bring all unassigned POS Ids to the POS Ids pull menu, click the arrow in the POS Ids and select a POS Id.
h) Click the Login Tab and click login. You will then enter in the POS main screen. At this point, you will receive a message that there is no data stored locally. Click OK in the message and a menu will display, select POS Administration and in the displayed screen click the bottom Create Database, this process will use all the information you entered in step e) to create your local database. When you receive the message that the database was created, then in the same screen click the bottom Load Data make sure that all field above are cheked ( items, items pricing etc). When the data load finish, you will receive a message that your system is operational. The load data downloads from the main server all the necessary information for to prepare invoices. In a production environment this process is typically done daily, unless item pricing, price lists or other information change more frequently, then it can be done as frequently as you need. There is another Bottom in the menu just for Data Load, this bottom is the one use by the workstation operator, the POS Administration requires administrator rigths.
