CSTA-Financials POS Installation

For the live application complete all steps below.

For the demo application  skip the  14 steps of the "Initialize Company" section

 

CSTA-Financials offers a Point of Sale Module that can interact with the main application. Before you attempt to install this module you need to make sure that:

  1. The .Net Framework 1.1 is already installed.

  2. The  MSDE 2000 needs to be installed on every computer where the POS program is going to be used.
    Note: If you are already running an MSDE session on that computer for the client application you can install another instance  for the POS.

  3. Web-Services are already installed.

  4. Client application has to be up and running

Initialize Company:

1. Open the CSTA-Financials Client Application

2. Go to the menu/Setup/POS Id maintenance

3. To Add a New POS Station, hit New.

4. Enter the Station Id and Select the warehouse where this station is going to be located

5. Leave the "POS Assigned Y/N" unchecked if you want to assign this Station when you install the POS application

6. Enter a Brief Description of This Station

7. Hit Update to save your changes.

8. Open the Item Form by clicking the "Items" button on the main screen or going to the main menu and clicking "setup/inventory/items." Search for Items that you want to make available to sell in the POS

9. Make sure the "POS Item" option is checked for those Items

10. Hit the Pricing Tab and Make sure you have a Default POS Unit of measure and all the information in there is correct

11. Remember that the specials are only valid for POS Customers by default. If you want to make an special available to everyone you need to check the button, Apply to salespersons.

12. Open the Customer File by clicking the "Cust" button on the main page or going to the main menu and clicking "setup/customers/customer maint." Search for a customer that you would like to sell in the POS

13. Make sure the "POS Customer Y/N" is checked for the customers you want to sell over the Point of Sale

14. Make sure you have a customer with ID "Cash01." This Customer is used as the default customer in the POS transactions

 

Once all the requirements are met, you can start the installation:

 1. Double Click on the Setup.Exe inside of the POS Installation Folder

2. Hit Next in the Initial screen after reading the disclaimer

3. Select the appropriate location to install the application. Check if you want the application install just for the current user or for all users with access to this computer. The “Disk Cost” button will show you how much space you have in your Hard Drives and how much space the POS application will need (135MB).

4. Click Next to start the installation

5. Follow the installation instructions and hit Close when finished

6. The installation adds a shortcut to the Start/Programs and to the desktop

After the POS Module is installed you need to configure it:

 

1. Double click the POS Icon. The login form should open:

2- If you are doing this for the first time; you need to create a database first. The default user name is “Administrator” and the password is “admin”

3. Hit the Connection tab and click "Modify"

4. Enter the IP/URL Address: Enter the location for the Web-Services (“Localhost/CSTA_WS” by default). Localhost can be substituted by the computer name if you are going to be accessing the server from inside the network or an IP address if you are going to access it from a remote location:

5.  Server Name: Enter the Server Name for the computer that isi hsting the main database used by CSTA-Financials

6. Server User Name: Enter correct information for your installed server (default "Sa").

7. Server Password: Enter correct information for your installed server (default "admin").

9. DB Name: Enter the name of the Database that was created when the client was first installed and the database that has already been initialized

10. User: Enter the user name for the CSTA Application (default: Administrator).

11. Password: Enter the password for the CSTA Application (default: admin).

12. Hit the "Set Up" Tab

13. Enter the name of the Local Server where the MSDE Database will be created
(The Default Name is "Localcomputer"\"csta_db"

14. Enter the Local User Id for the MSDE Database (Default "Sa")

15. Enter the Local User password (Default "admin")

16. Enter the Local Database Name (Default "CSTA_POS_DB"). if you are doing this for the first time the database might not exist. However, you can enter the Name for the Database that will be created the first time you log into the system

17. Hit the "Get Locations" Button to populate the Drop Down list of Locations

18. Select the Location for this POS Station from the List

19. After the Location has been selected you need to confirm your choice before selecting the POS station ID

20. Hit the "Get POS Ids" Button to populate the dropdown with a list of available Pos Stations in the selected warehouse.

21. Select Id for this POs Station from the List

22. Confirm your choice before Logging in to the System.

23. Go Back to the "Log In" Tab and hit Log In. If this is the first time you do this the Offline Log In Function is not going to  function.

24. Hit the Log In Function. If you are doing this for the first time you should see a message like this:

25. After you are taken to the main menu click on the "POS Administration" button:

26. Click on the "Create" Button to create a new local database

27. Confirm your option. If the database already exists the system will prompt you to overwrite it.

28. Click the "Load Data" button to replace all Customer, Items and Prices Information that are stored locally with the main database. This function should be performed at the beginning and also whenever the Items, Customers, or prices are changed.

29. After this function finishes you should receive a confirmation that the POS is operational:

30.Hit the POS button in the Main Menu and the POS should be ready for use.
